“But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” – Psalm 86:15 (NIV)
God’s nature is love. He embodies it.
Everything God does is motivated by His love for mankind. He demonstrated His love for us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). He made this clear in John 3:16. By this action, God teaches us how to love others in all circumstances.
The account is told of Saul (of Tarsus), a Pharisee who persecuted Christians. After being blinded by a light from heaven, Jesus appeared unto him and transformed his heart. Saul was changed from the inside out; he became a different person. He became “Christ-like.” These qualities (among others) were found in him after God touched his heart: self-control, endurance, godliness, brotherly affection, patience, and love for everyone. His mind was renewed. He was of the world, but his mindset was based on kingdom principles. God gave him a new beginning.
Brothers and sisters, God wants to give us a new beginning so we can enjoy His everlasting love forever (eternity). Psalm 103:17 (NIV) says, “But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him, and His righteousness with their children’s children.” God’s love is not limited by time, circumstances, or human limitations. It reaches back into the depth of time and stretches into eternity. Trust in God; He never fails.
